Commercial Manager – Director Designate – Specialist Contractor

As part of their planned expansion, they have created a new opening for a Commercial Manager. This opportunity should be looked at as a stepping stone into a potential Commercial Directorship within the next 12 to 24 months.
It’s likely you will be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or have demonstrable experience working for a sub-contractor in a Quantity Surveying or Senior Commercial Management function.
Candidates will have a minimum of five years Quantity Surveying experience in the fast-moving and highly demanding field of subcontracting, ideally in the specialist arena of natural stone or an allied field such as cladding or fit out on major commercial or residential projects.
You are highly ambitious and are now at the stage in your career where you seek more of a positive acknowledgement for your work and want the autonomy to effectively run your own business and see the incentives through a structured profit share scheme.
Projects are typically £1m to £5m (with multiple projects live at any one time). You will be responsible for managing an Estimator, Contract Administrator and Project Surveyors and report directly into the MD.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all commercial duties – Pre and Post Contract.
- Head up the legal representation
- Implement new processes and assist in digitising commercial procedures
- Value engineering to maximise margins for contracts and buying
- Establish a network of client QS’s
- Monthly audits, reporting on progress
- Manage final accounts
- Protect business interests and minimise risk
